My name is Deanne Thomas.

I earned my Bachelor's degree from Troy University in 1985, in the area of Special education.

I began my career at Project Independence School in New Brockton, Alabama.  This school served students with multi-handicaps from Coffee County.  Project Independence eventually merged with the three county schools.  I continued teaching at New Brockton Elementary School through the 2002-2003 school year.  I came to Elba City Schools at the beginning of the 2003-2004 school year and have been happily teaching here ever since.  This year is my 31st year as a teacher!  My goal is to continue to search for strategies to help each student I work with and to help them reach their goals towards being happy, positive, and productive individuals in their communities.  I am thankful to be an educator!

I am slowly working towards my Master's degree in the area of Counseling/Psychometrics.

I have lived in Elba all of my life.  I graduated from Elba High School in 1981.  My husband Freddie, son Derick, and daughter Maisie are also graduates of Elba.  My youngest child, Ivie, is currently a very active 9th grader at Elba High School.

I love working at the school I graduated from. My family and I are proud to be from Elba and to all be Elba Tigers!!!
