My name is Starla Amison and I am a 1986 graduate of Elba High School.  I am very happily married to Mike who is a 1982 graduate of Elba High School.  I have two sons.  JonAshley graduated from Elba High School in 2013 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Samford University in 2017.  Kenneth Neil graduated from Elba High School in 2016 and is working towards a BS in Computer Science as well.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Troy University in 1990.  I have worked in the Cardiac Critical Care Unit at Baptist South in Montgomery and the Emergency Department at Elba General Hospital.  I was employed with Elba City Schools for 11 years as Lead Nurse before moving to MY HAPPY PLACE which is teaching Health Science at the Elba Career Academy.  Our program is now Accredited and we are a teaching and testing site for Certified Nurse Aide.  

I love my "babies" as I often call my students and it makes my heart smile to see them succeed.  I look forward to seeing their smiling faces in my classroom daily and truly enjoy sharing my love for nursing and the health care field with them.  I am blessed to teach students from Elba City Schools as well as Coffee County Schools.  I love what I do and I love my students.  If you ever wonder just how much, please ask me about my program.  I would love to share my students' successes with you because they ARE the Health Science program at Elba Career Academy.
